Guergis Should Stand up for her Own Province

Helena Guergis should speak to her boss, Mr. Harper, and to finance minister Flaherty and tell them to stop disparaging Ontario as the last place in Canada that investors might seek to develop new factories.

Just last week Kellogg announced it will build a new plant near Belleville providing 100 new jobs. As part of its strategy to aid the province’s manufacturing sector, the Ontario government is providing Kellogg’s with a five year interest free $9.7 million loan. Kellogg credits Ontario government support and Belleville’s skilled work force for its decision to invest in Ontario.

This is just one example of how we can make investing in Ontario attractive without having to reduce corporate tax rates and line the pockets of those who are already making huge profits, which is the only alternative Flaherty and Harper propose.

How about it, Ms. Guergis? Stand up for the many people in your riding who have lost their jobs in the manufacturing sector. Tell your bosses to support, not criticize Ontario.
