I have been redirected to this site by Greenpeace because I am looking for answers as to what the status is with respect to Dump site 41 and whether or not it has been stopped or if it is moving ahead. I would like to be a part of stopping the site from being developed where it is proposed to be developed. How can I help? I have started a Facebook Group called “Help Save the Cleanest Water in the world” and would like to invite you to join, and provide us with any guidance that you can. Please note, I have posted your link and picture for this site, and once again welcome you to both view and join the Group.Looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi, Miriam:
Thank-you for your interest in the fight against Site 41.
I drove by the Site yesterday and was sad to see the earth-moving equipment at work developing the site.
Still, the group which has been valiantly fighting it for many years continues to work hard through the legal system and appeals to the Ministry of the Environment. This group has always amazed me with their scientific and legal expertise, their tenacity and their poise.

For your information, some of us who are against the building of this new dump have formed another group, which is approaching the problem from another angle: zero waste. We are at the beginning stage, but soon hope to have a website. Our name for now is Simcoe County Zero Waste Coalition. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate the need for dump sites by eliminating garbage. If you Google “zero waste”, you can find lots of information about how this movement is happening around the world.
Cheers,
Katy Austin, Simcoe/Grey NDP candidate
Thank you for your concern about this issue. One of the most important things right now is to try to generate more publicity-while this is difficult, there are some relatively easy ways such as letters to the editor.
